Westgate Employees Assist Women’s Shelter in Orlando
CareForce Volunteers from Westgate Resorts in Orlando spent the morning of Feb. 9 serving breakfast at the Women’s Residential and Counseling Center (WRCC).
The WRCC is a division of the Coalition for the Homeless in downtown Orlando.
Volunteers helped prepare and serve eggs and grits prior to sharing homemade cookies with everyone in attendance.
The WRCC is currently home to 55 women and 53 children – residents who are struggling with the challenges of being homeless mothers. The shelter provides temporary housing and assists the women in finding jobs. Once they are employed, the WRCC helps the women save a portion of each paycheck so they can ultimately become self-sufficient and live in their own apartment. Typically, residents can get out on their own within six months.
