Disney sponsors KidZone at Come Out With Pride festival
LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla., Oct. 7, 2013 - Several Walt Disney World Resort Cast Members attended the annual Come Out with Pride Orlando event at Lake Eola Park in downtown Orlando. Disney sponsored the KidZone during the festival as part of the company’s ongoing commitment to diversity and inclusion.
Come Out with Pride is organized by the Metropolitan Business Association, Central Florida’s LGBT chamber of commerce. The multi-day celebration of diversity and culture included a festival and parade on Oct. 5 in downtown Orlando.
PRIDE is a Walt Disney World Diversity Resource Group serving gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender and ally Cast Members.
At the KidZone children and families made crafts, enjoyed face painting and other fun activities with Disney VoluntEARS.
Disney’s dedication to diversity includes supporting the activities of a number of diversity resource groups for Cast Members, including PRIDE. Troy Loutsenhizer, a Cast Member and president of the PRIDE group, says people at the Come Out with Pride Orlando event are always excited to see Cast Members participate in the festival.
“This event demonstrates Disney’s commitment to welcome and accept everyone,” Loutsenhizer said. “As a Cast Member, the company’s involvement in Come Out With Pride makes us feel valued and appreciated for our contribution to the company and community.”
